Group Life Insurance
Protecting Your Income
Group Life Insurance (GLI), administered by Securian, provides financial protection for your named beneficiaries if you die while an active employee.
Basic Group Life coverage is paid in full by K-C and provides insurance in the amount of two times (2x) your annual base pay (rounded to the nearest $100) up to a maximum of $2 million of coverage.*
*K-C paid Group Life above $50,000 is considered “imputed income” and is taxable to you. If you make more than $25,000 per year, you have the option to elect a flat $50,000 of coverage to avoid imputed income.
You can purchase supplemental coverage, after tax, in increments of eight (8x) times your annual base pay, up to a maximum of $4 million.
For Your Spouse/Partner*
You can purchase between $10,000 to $150,000 (in increments of $1,000) of Dependent GLI for your spouse/partner on an after-tax basis. The maximum coverage cannot exceed 3x your annual base pay.
For Your Child(ren)*
As long as you are enrolled in basic Group Life coverage, you can also purchase $10,000 or $20,000 of GLI coverage for your child(ren) or your spouse/partner's children.
Base pay for salaried employees is defined as your annual base pay including any shift differentials as of the preceding July 1, or date you first become eligible for coverage if later than July 1. Your annual base pay does not include overtime, incentive pay, bonuses, or any adjustments you receive as a result of a temporary assignment. For hourly employees, your annual base pay is your hourly rate of pay excluding shift differential, overtime, incentive, or bonuses, multiplied by 40 (hours) times 52 (weeks), also as of the preceding July 1.
