Interim COVID-19 Absence Policies & FAQs
Public Health Emergency Absence Policy & FAQs
We recognize that some of our employees may need to step out of the workforce temporarily due to the impact of COVID-19. So, we’re offering an interim 14 calendar day absence policy for eligible employees to provide supplemental paid time off.
High Risk Stay at Home Absence Policy
If eligible, employees who self-identify as high risk for COVID-19 as defined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) can voluntarily decide to take an absence from the K-C workforce temporarily for a minimum of 12 weeks to self-isolate and avoid risk of COVID-19 infection.
Short-Term Disability (STD)
If eligible and you test positive for COVID-19, it may be covered as a disability under STD and the waiting period will be waived.
Dependent Care Spending Account
New COVID relief was recently passed as part of the IRS Consolidated Appropriations Act 2021. Learn about how the act may impact you including new carryover provisions.
If you’re enrolled in an Anthem medical plan, Anthem provides the ability to talk to a physician from the comfort of your own home using your smart-phone or computer.
If you’re enrolled in one of K C’s medical plans, CVS Pharmacy is adjusting refill timing during the pandemic.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
In addition to ongoing emotional support, EAP is offering a public crisis line at 866-342-6892 to assist in the COVID-19 situation. This support line is open to anyone, including family and friends and it’s free of charge.

Perks at Work
To help with the set-up of your work from home environment, Perks at Works has developed a toolkit with discount offce items for sale including ergonomic chairs, sit-stand desks, etc.
If eligible, back-up care provides subsidized care for center-based child care and in-home child and adult care with 10 subsidized visits per calendar year. Keep in mind the availability of this benefit may be limited by the vendor during the COVID-19 situation.
