Your Coverage

Your coverage begins on your date of hire. If you aren’t actively at work on the day you are hired, coverage begins on your first active day of work.

If your benefit coverage begins before you enroll for benefits, your coverage will be retroactive to your benefits effective date.

Dependent Coverage

Coverage for your eligible dependents begins on the same day as your coverage begins, or on the day your dependent first becomes eligible (whichever is later).

See the Eligibility section for details about who you can cover.

ID Cards

Insurance carriers will issue ID cards within two to three weeks after you enroll.

If you or your family needs health care before you receive your ID cards and your health care providers need to verify coverage, they can call your carrier or the K-C Benefits Information Line at 800-551-2333. Your providers may require you to pay for services up front, but you can file a claim with your carrier for reimbursement of covered services.
