Benefits Enrollment

Your K-C benefits are effective on day one. That means you can get care even before you enroll. You may be required to pay for services at that time, but you can file a claim once you enroll.

You'll have a chance to make choices on many of your benefit options as part of new hire enrollment. Some benefits are automatic and provided at no cost to you, so no choice is needed. Other automatic benefits, like medical (individual coverage) result in a payroll deduction.

You’ll want to review your options and make sure the default choice is the right one for you – or make your own choice.

Default Medical Plan Enrollment

Choosing the right medical plan for you and your family is a critical step, and it’s not a decision K-C wants to make on your behalf. The automatic enrollment is in place to protect employees who may miss their enrollment deadline due to circumstances beyond their control. We highly encourage you to review all of your Medical plan options and make an informed decision. Depending on your date of hire, K-C's contribution to your HSA could be pro-rated.

If you don’t enroll for benefits within 30 days of your hire date, you will be enrolled in the CDHP Blue with HSA. No dependents, such as a spouse or child, will be enrolled. Plus, if you are tobacco-free or trying to quit, you won’t get the Tobacco-free discount of $240 annually.

If you have medical coverage through another source, like through your spouse’s employer, you need to be aware of the automatic medical plan enrollment. This way you can opt out of medical coverage by going through the enrollment process on K-C Benefit Compass.

You'll also be automatically enrolled in benefits that K-C pays for:

  • Basic Life Insurance*
  • Business Travel Accident Insurance (BTA)
  • Short Term Disability*
  • Weekly Disability Income*
  • Basic Long Term Disability*

Default 401(k) Enrollment

K-C wants you to be well prepared for retirement, so all new hires are automatically enrolled in the 401(k) plan.

About two weeks after your hire date, you’ll receive a letter notifying you of your pending enrollment. That letter will give you a specific deadline for making any changes to the automatic enrollment settings before they take effect. The deadline is generally 30 days from the date of the letter.

To make changes, log in to NetBenefits or call the K-C Benefits Information Line at 800-551-2333. Fidelity representatives are available 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET. From outside the U.S., dial your country’s toll-free AT&T Direct Access number (found here or from your local operator) then enter 800-551-2333.

Don't worry if you miss the deadline. You can always make changes to your 401(k) elections at any time.

Here’s what automatic 401(k) enrollment involves:

  • You will contribute 6% of your pay into your retirement savings. Then, your contribution rate will automatically increase by 1% per year (each June) up to 10%.
  • K-C will provide a dollar-for-dollar match on the first 4% of your contributions.
  • Your contributions and K-C’s matching contributions will be invested in the Target Date Fund closest to the year in which you turn 65.
  • You will be enrolled in Portfolio Advisory Service at Work (PAS-W), which means an investment advisor will manage your investments for a fee charged to your 401(k) account. This program also lets you work one-on-one with an advisor. Learn more about K-C’s 401(k) Plan.

2. Review Your Benefits Options

Review your benefits options on this site before you enroll. The Benefits Overview section is a good place to start. It links to more details on each benefit.

Pay special attention to information on the Medical plan. You have options to choose from. In the Medical section of this site, you’ll find details on the plans, interactive content such as the Real-Life Examples, and videos to help you make your decisions. 3. Enroll for Benefits within 30 Days

Day 1

• Get familiar with your benefits by reading the New Hire Guide and visiting @myHR > Total Rewards > Benefits for more details.

Day 7 - 14

You’ll receive information from Empyrean on how to set up your online account and where to access H&W enrollment instructions, including information on designating beneficiaries.

You’ll receive information from Fidelity on how to set up your online account, along with 401(k) & PSP highlights, enrollment instructions, and beneficiary designation information. You’ll also receive several legal notices from Fidelity – one of which is your notice of pending automatic enrollment.

• Set up your Empyrean and Fidelity online accounts.
• Dig deeper by reviewing the H&W and 401(k) & PSP Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) on the Empyrean and Fidelity websites.
• Ask questions by calling the K-C Benefits Information Line.
• Consider contacting our H&W providers directly (e.g., Anthem, CVS/caremark, Delta Dental) if you need greater detail.
• Use Real-Life Examples to help in your decision-making process.

Day 30

You must complete your H&W elections on K-C Benefit Compass within 30 days of when Empyrean contacts you with H&W enrollment information. If you don’t, you’ll be automatically enrolled in basic coverage, which won’t include coverage for any eligible dependents you may have.

Once you receive notice of your pending automatic enrollment, you have about 30 days to make changes to your 401(k) & PSP elections or you’ll be automatically enrolled – meaning 6% pre-tax of your eligible earnings will be deducted from each paycheck. You can change your 401(k) contribution election at any time at NetBenefits.com.

H&W ENROLLMENT DEADLINE: Complete your H&W elections by this date.
401(k) AUTOMATIC ENROLLMENT DEADLINE: Complete your 401(k) & PSP elections by this date.
DESIGNATE BENEFICIARIES: Designate beneficiaries for all plans that pay a benefit in the event of your death.

After the initial enrollment period, you won’t be able to enroll or make changes to your benefits until annual enrollment in the fall, unless you experience a qualified status change. Learn more.
